Thank you! I live on the beach & the closest large cities are nearly an hour away (Mobile AL, Pensacola FL)
Unfortunately, as far as I can tell there aren't any local clubs. Go figure! Thought there would be several since my house is 1/4 mile from the Gulf of Mexico!
This would be a good opportunity to start a club there locally

I'd be very interested in doing that, just not sure how to go about it.

I could put you in touch with our club “president/organizer”. She has been with North AL Reef Club for years. I believe you should also put out a visitors invitation to AL/FL folks that come down to GC beach. My thought is that would be a great way to help your club grow. I know I’d enjoy meeting reefers down your way on occasion. We come down for the shrimp festival each year.
Also the admins on here could give some pointers about starting a club.

That sounds great! I'm very interested in doing this. I belonged to a club in St. Louis when I lived there...the benefits were fantastic. Lots of great people all helping each other out.

I'd appreciate any & all help doing getting the ball rolling.

Also, please PM me...I have access to multiple condos down here, might be able to help you out for Shrimp Fest!

OK let me work on this tomorrow and this weekend with @Tomoko Schum to introduce y'all. She and several others are the old guard with NARC. Thanks in advance for the condo access. My wife and her partner are artists at Shrimp festival and are always looking for a great place to stay. They prefer the west side of the T but will take either direction (within a half mile of the T since they take their bicycles to move around on). First things first. Lets get you the ground work to start the club.

@dbl @revhtree If you have any suggestions on a starting place...

Hi, jpgraft :)

It's really easy to start a local group. You just need to post a message on a forum or on Facebook to meet up with other people.

A few of us in NARC used to hang out in a local forum on Reef Central. Some of us had an extra frag or two and wanted to trade them for something. I asked if someone wanted to trade frags and a few responded. We met in an LFS after work, traded the frags, and decided to meet again in a month. During the second or third meeting we decided to form a local club and decided on the name North Alabama Reef Club (NARC). Eventually we decided to meet over lunch on a Saturday once a month. We have no president or officers. There is no dues, either. We are just a friendly, informal group. One important thing is to meet regularly like every month. It does not matter how many people you have. Two people is enough to have a meeting, but off course the more the merrier. I just take a little bit of time to post a message (or request a next host to post one) for a monthly meeting in our local forum on R2R. That's really all there is to it.

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Let’s see some pics of the tank you found! :)
