Hey guys just wanted to drop in, say hi and introduce myself. I am new to the form and to reef keeping. I have had some sort of aquarium for the past 10 years but never reef. The build started as a 65g RR but then we moved and that got placed on the back burner. In the new house wasn't too sure what I wanted so I sold my 65g tank and setup and then started a fish-less cycle on a 29g with HOB filter in my sons room. He is only 3 and hated it... Said it was too noisy and woke him up in the night.
The cycle finished last week and I will be moving the tank out of his room to our family room. Here is where the indecisiveness comes inot play. I have more room to play with and always loved the foot print of a 40br. I am planning to upgrade the newly cycled 29 to a 40br drilled with a glass holes overflow into a 29g sump. I will be doing a diy stand to accommodate the sump/equipment (wont bore you with too many details in the meet and greet forum : )
I have a 10g setup as a qt with two misbarred mocha clowns, a mushroom rock, a hammer and a torch coral. Added some bio-filtration to this tank with some matrix and sand from the cycled 29 and so far 0 ammo and 0 nitrites...
I will be starting a build thread soon to detail the expansion and also I thread with some pics of the rock I have in my qt. It has some funky thing growing on it. I look forward to getting to know you guys and hopefully have some way to contribute to the community!!
