Since I am new I thought I would make a post here.
I live in Ontario, Canada and work for a firm that specializes in Family and Immigration law. My husband and I have chosen the most expensive hobbies to enjoy, equestrian, reefing and drag cars. I show the national circuit in the hunters and jumpers ( Keystone Farms) and currently have two reef tanks in operation (soon to be more) and have a seal point mitted ragdoll cat who is with me every step of my reefing journey.
Tanks:
55 gallon starphire rimless reef tank. I run a canister filter on it with a hang on skimmer. Worst. Idea. Ever. This tank takes so much time to maintain and I have constant issues with it. Like flooding my kitchen because the skimmer was turned up too high. Eventually we will be adding a sump to it. It's quite full of coral, cespit which is taking over the tank, ritteri anemone, pearl bubble coral, male mandarin etc etc.
135 gallon rimless mixed reef/frag tank with a 78gallon sump. This tank is in our unfinished basement so we had lots of options with this build. I run a JNS Cone3 skimmer, Waveline return pump and Ocean Revive lights. There is about 190lbs of live rock and a 4" sand bed. I have a blue spot puffer (so far he hasnt touched anything! not even my snails or shrimp), a pair of mandarins and loads of coral. Eventually we will have another 78 gallon tank set up to be used only for frags as we are in the preliminary stages of setting up a business. We also have a pair of Ice clowns that live in the fuge.
