Hey, im Jeff & fairly new to SW tanks, i set mine up around thanksgiving of 2013, so its been running for a a little over 5 months now, i've had to deal w/ cyano & now my most recent battle is w/ bubble algae, i've picks up an emerald crab but he hasnt found the spot yet where the bubble algae is, hehas only been in the tank for about a week & is still exploring everything

i've learned a lot in the short I've been into this hobby, i have had FW tanks for years now & finally decided to setup a SW tank w/ a 20L i had sitting in the garage

i have always wanted to have one but kept putting it off b/c i would listen to people tell me how hard it was or how much work was involved or how expensive everything is but after setting it up, its really not that hard to keep & maintenance isnt much more than that of a FW system, but cost... i've found out the sky's the limit here

so here is the most recent pic i have of my first sw tank

Welcome! Are you aware of a great club called RASOC.org for the Charlotte area?

I am speaking this Saturday at their club meeting and presenting a slideshow on nutrition and some other videos from our recent travels. Send me a PM if you need any more information.

Larry

Larry, yes i am aware of them, i have been on their forums for a while & am actually thinking about joining up

also i loved the pics you posted there of your dogs in the minions outfits

LRS Reef frenzy nano is the staple food for my tank :)

Hi! I'm also a Charlotte reefer. It's nice to see others in the area. You should come out to the RASOC meeting this month - especially to hear Larry. I'm looking forward to the update as it seems like he's been pretty busy since last speaking with us back in March. We also had Joe and Laura from Long Island Aquarium and ReefGen down for a presentation. Lots of good information and a good place to pick up nice frags on the cheap. Nice looking tank. Based on the livestock and that Euphyllia I see, looks like you already know about Nemo's, no?

Larry, looking forward to seeing you again. We bumped into each other briefly at Fintastic during the sale but I'm not sure if you remember me. We met once before. I was chatting with Seth. I actually am very low on my reef frenzy nano and NEED some badly. I've even gone through the new mix sample you handed out! Will you have some for sale at the meeting or should I just hit up a LFS?

i will try to make it out to the meeting this weekend & yeah most of my corals have come from Nemo's, i usually stop by there about once a week or so to check out new inventory & pick up some water

Yes I remember meeting you while Seth was talking to Tony Vargas. I hope you can make it out to the meeting, since I have some neat stuff go over with the club. Unfortunately the stores in Charlotte who have been very supportive of us would be upset if I showed up to a meeting and sold food out of a cooler. To be honest I haven't sold food direct in NC in over a year since we have 24 stocking dealers. (Collecting and filing NC sales tax became too much of a pain in the butt, so I just sell wholesale in state.)

I will be offering some LRS pint beer glasses, caps and T shirts at near cost so bring a little cash if you care to snag one.
