Okay, so I feel incredibly stupid for asking this, but...
In this post, I assume I'm replying to you guys, but I don't know how to create a brand new post, that's not replying to a current one. Does that make sense? In other words, how do I start a brand new post that's separate from this one?

Go to whatever forum you want to make a new post and in the top bar you will have a option to create a new post
Okay thank you! Where do I go from the home page, though? I know you have to Go to forums, but then where?

Select forums from the drop down menu...
