This sight has already helped me a ton so thank you to everyone.

My wife and I recently had a son and I thought what a great thing for him to have in his room would be a little piece of the reef. We have a 40 breeder and a 20g sump. Pretty sweet for a 6 month old. I am in the military and have to go out to sea from time to time but my wife and I enjoy the time we spend together on the tank and watching the little ones face light up when his clowns swim by.

Look forward to meeting more people in the hobby.

Welcome to R2R, I have 18mo. old twin granddaughters who are absolutely mesmerized by fish tanks. While putting together my first saltwater tank I was working on the sump and had the return pump just sitting in there, one them actually took a piece of 3/4" pvc I had given her to play with and reached in the cabinet, stuck in down into the 1" coupler for the pump and then stuck a 1" elbow on top of that, lol, then stood back and started clapping like look what I did grandpa. :eek:

Your son looks fascinated with the life below the surface - or at least charmed by brilliant colors and fluid movements! Kids and tanks are a perfect combination, from their first joys of "Blue! Yellow!" to "Nemo! Dory!" to an understanding of biology, chemistry, physics - the fundamentals of life, and of death. Every moment, a subtle learning experience.
