Hello from Dallas TX, I am a previous reef keeper who has not had a tank in 18 years.
I was a previous member here or another forum like this I can’t remember, anyway I have found myself wanting to get back into the hobby now that my kids have grown and money isn’t as tight to juggle kids/life/reef hopefully with even better results and with less problem solving do to slightly better habits (advance knowledge in the hobby) and a better complete system startup with more equipment and improvements in equipment.
I so far have either purchased and have on hand or waiting on delivery of these items
1 180gal rimless tank from Planet Aquarium
1 48in x 20in Tideline sump
1 Vectra M2 DC return pump (2000gph)
1 Reef Octopus Regal 200sss protein skimmer
1 Aquatic Life 61in Hybrid T5HO fixture with brackets for future Kessil lights
1 6stage RODI unit with total solvents meter
1 Neptune Apex unit Wi-Fi controller and trident controller
1 Neptune WXM module
1 Neptune Par monitoring kit
1 Neptune ATK auto top off kit
1 Neptune flow sensor for UV light
1 Neptune break outbox
2 EcoTech Marine VorTech MP40wQD with 2 additional wet side heads
1 Mighty Jet DC pump 538gph for UV light
2 800w Finnex heaters
2 Ink Bird temperature controllers (1 to back up the apex and one to control the mixing station)
1 Pentair 50w H/O UV light
That is what I have at the time of writing this post
Things I still need to get are
A top-off tank
Buckets for mixing station
All plumbing parts tank is not set up
4 Kessil lights
Some more modules for my apex
Sand and dry/live rock depending on which way I go
Refuge starter kit
Refuge light
All of this is listed is to start me off. I haven’t come up with a vision of what kind of tank that I planning on stocking as of yet for I am going to discover within myself who I am in this process as I go along. Will I need reactors? A dosing system I don’t know because I haven’t decided a final vision, but that is not a worry for me right now for I still have discoveries of myself first.
All I know is that I am going to be patient and give it time and start with the cycles, cycle of the tank, cycle of a few fish, the ugly stage, the cycle of the refuge, the proper timing of the UV light (yes I know some don’t like UV). During this time, I plan on envisioning what I will stock the tank with and do what is appropriate for success. I will also be researching educating myself even further from my peers with whatever source that I can be it from my peers here at reef2reef, YouTube, LFS, or where ever I get good info. I am looking forward to being an active member and with pictures as things develop and hopefully well met.

Welcome. I just setup a very very similar system (180g using 61” Aquatic Life with Radion A360Xs) and am in Dallas as well.

As a heads up, take a look at some of the issues I’ve run into with the Pentair UV 40w (size smaller than you). PM me if you want to meet up sometime.
