My name is Jim/Falsedawn user name, gaming moniker. I'm a 54 year old English teacher about ready to retire. I used to have several fresh water tanks in my youth and today I have put together a salt water, 90. Gallon, wave tank( customed made). I have everything but a skimmer, t5 led, chiller, plus need more cured rock. I'm using a 505 flugal temporarily with 4 damsels and 20 pounds of cured rock. My tank chemistry is spot on. Just a fluorescent light for now. Fish very active, seem content! I do have a question. Can I introduce quartz crystal rock for decor to my tank without a negative affect on chemistry? Thanks, Falsedawn

Good morning Jim and Welcome to the site. First off, if you plan on running t-5's or leds you probably will not need a chiller. That being said I would have to ask what kind of a saltwater tank are you planning on keeping and what fish? I don't think the crystals would affect the chemistry jmo but sifter fish could have an issue depending on the size of the crystals

By the way, the skimmer will probably be The most important piece of equipment you will own so but the best one you could afford. Do not skimp on it as this is not an area you want to go cheap on. Good luck and feel free to ask questions

Welcome to R2R Jim. Sounds like you have a great start so far. As long as the rocks are solid I don't see a problem.
