Hi
I thought it was about time I said hello. I've been following posts on facebook and reading some of the great posts on here.
I started keeping marines approx 20years ago, and then had a long break until about 2005 When I started again with a small 28g reef.
Then I slowly progressed to a 82g and then in 2010 a 100g and then to my present tank in 2012 145g reef.
My current system is L60in W30in H24in peninsular with an external weir box L6in W30in H12in
Sump L48in W17in H17in with DSB Bubble Magus Curve 9 Skimmer heaters and Jebao 12000 return pump.
Lighting is 8x 54w T5 Giesemann Tubes 4x AquaBlue Plus 2x Actinic Plus 2x Pure Actinic
Water movement is provided by 2x Jebao WP40
When I 1st set this tank up I was running a closed loop system powered by a Sequence 12000s pump. Towards the end of 2013 the pump started making horrible noises so I sent it off for repair to be told parts inside had gone rusty. I never thought much of it, but over this time every new coral or frag I would place in the tank would strip with in 24hrs and most would die. I sent a test off to Triton Labs to find my water had very high levels of Tin Lithium Nickle and Zinc, So it called for some changes. Out came the sequence and closed loop and out came all reef bones and plates for a new unique structure. (more on that to come).
Things have improved greatly in the tank but I did loose a lot of corals, so its like a fresh start.
Look forward to chatting with you and reading more of the great threads on here.
