Hello From Jordan!

Hi everyone, I Just join here after being lurking around for quite some time now, i guess it is time to join this warm community.

I little about my self, i am 29 years, i started with freshwater and planted tanks around 7 years ago, not too long after that i found my way to the salt water part of the hobby, soon enough i found my self down to my knees addicted to this beautiful world.

Despite living here in Jordan, far away from all the good stuff this hobby can offer, ~55% tax on all imports, and huge lack in general understanding of the science behind this hobby from both the community and the vendors, i decided to start a 13g nano. it was my pride and joy.

I was successful keeping the tank in a fairly good condition, and had a lot of success with many types of LSP and softies, growth and coloration i had exceeded expectations despite all the limitations.

unfortunatly the nano decided to crack after a little over 4 years of happiness, however i was able to save all the live stock, and now living in a rubbermaid awaiting to be transfered to their new home, a 90g rimless that i have been working on for some time now, which is in the last days of the cycle.

I would like to share my 90g build process experience at some point when i get my hands a little drier but i will post a photo here to give you an idea about how things look.

the photo was taken a few weeks ago while the nano was still kicking.

Welcome and thanks for sharing! Keep us posted on your progress, as it looks like you are off to a great start!

Reading your post made me more appreciative of the ease and convenience of supplies and livestock that we enjoy here in the U.S. I guess that I often take for granted my tank and may lack some discipline and maintnence, since I know that I can always replace any equipment or livestock quickly. This is something that the majority of us take for granted...

thanks Eric81. It is indeed a huge advantage to be in any part of the world where there is easy access for dry and live goods, makes life a lot easier, i cannot tell you how many times i nearly got depressed because i couldnt get a dip, or a medicine while i had an animal that needed a little help to grasp to life.

for every dark side there is a bright site to things tho, being in such an environment, basically being on your own, gives you the room to think, and try and expirment on your own, this was a major contributer in my learning curve in the hobby.

thanks for the compliments and i will sure start a thread for the new 90g soon, i hope you like it, and i hope to get as much words of wisdom there is to offer.

Cool! Welcome to R2R! I have been to Jordan before! I was actually there one time and was in an earthquake! HA!

How cool of a coincidence, been here nearly all my life, all past 3 earthquakes happened when i decide to go to bed, so i always miss the fun!
I hope you had a nice stay in Jordan, hope to meet any R2R member who decide to visit Jordan in the future.

I bet you went diving or snorkeling over Aqaba rich reefs, if you didnt i highly recommend it if you happened to visit again.
