Hi there, thought I would take the time to introduce myself, my experiences and my future goals for fish keeping.
My names Ben and I'm from Manchester in sunny old England. I have been an active and avid fish keeper for 10 years. I have only ever kept tropical fish ranging from the everyday guppy to the great oddballs of rhinogobious and elephantnoses.
I have kept aquariums of all shapes and sizes from 28 litre nano cubes to the 900 litre that sits in my living room now.
I have finally decided to take the plunge into the world of reef keeping, starting small, with the eventuality of turning my 900l into a reef.
The aquarium that I have initially set up is 100l, which should help to give me the experience that I need for future endeavours. I don't plan to have a large livestock in this tank. I am adding 12kg of live rock tomorrow evening from my lfs. The tank will be left to cycle for 7-8 weeks before adding some corals which are likely to be a mushroom or 2, Xenia and a zoa colony. A further month down the line I will be looking to add a common clown and further down the line will look to add a goby pistol shrimp pair.
As I said this is my first venture into the world of marine keeping, you can do all the research in the world but without taking "the plunge" you will never know if you could manage it. If any of you have any information, opinions, verdicts or would like to know anything about me then please feel free to talk to me. I am very excited about this next step in my fish keeping life and will need all the help I can get.
Thanks for reading and happy fish keeping to you all.
Regards,
Ben
