Hello from New Mexico!

Welcome to R2R!!!

Welcome to R2R! Lived in the high desert for almost 30 years. Lots of evaporation both in the tank and in your body. It would actually show up on my annual blood tests as dehydration! Yikes!
When treating fish in bath or QT tank, run O2 longer than recommended to saturate with O2 before placing fish in the bath. Just watch for lethargy, gasping or sometimes color loss due to low O2.
+1 and welcome to the family!

Im from new mexico also. Loads of information here in R2R.
Hi! Since you're from New Mexico, do you have any special recommendations? Our previous tanks were in Oklahoma, so we aren't used to the climate with our tank yet. We're finding a lot of evaporation is our biggest problem, but we bought an ATO and it seems to be helping, but we have to watch the salinity more now. Anything else you can think of?
Thanks,
Cassi

Cassilyn, i dont think it makes much a difference where you're from. the important is a stable system. i dont know what kind of inhabitant you're keeping but keeping it in balance is ideal. evaporation varies on your tank, if your tank has a canopy then less evaporation than those with open top like mine. i dont think there's enough evaporation that will drop your salinity drastically. my tank evaporate about 3gallon a day, so i just top it off at the end of the day.
