Hello everybody!! We are Triton Marine from Ohio. We look forward to providing reef2reef members with high quality livestock. It's been great reading the forums for quite sometime now that we decided to take the plunge. Our local customers have loved what we do and have helped so many of them in our time that we have been open.

We at Triton Marine are firm believers in quarantining. All of our fish are quarantined for two to six weeks minimum before going in the tanks out front.
You never really know what you're bringing in with a new fish. We've had fish come in with diseases that would've killed every other fish in the system if they weren't in QT. Some collectors are still using questionable practices to catch fish, including cyanide, or bringing deep water fish up too quickly so that they end up with the fishy version of the bends. Some fish just don't acclimate into aquarium life very well.
We try our hardest to ease their transition into aquarium life by keeping the fish in separate tanks with little to no light to alleviate stress. We have over 50 separate tanks ranging from 20g to 90g. Because they're in separate systems, it's possible for us to medicate just one fish, or use different medications where necessary, without unnecessarily drugging fish that don't need it. We can also see exactly which fish are eating, what they're eating, and how much. Quarantining also lets us see who needs a little more TLC.
These practices allow us to offer the healthiest fish possible. They're all eating, and they recognize quickly that people are feeding them, so they aren't as skittish when you go up to the tank. All of the fish that make it through our quarantine procedures are fully acclimated into tank life, meaning a much less harrowing experience once you get them home.
