I’ve just been lurking around for a while and researching the hobby for about 3-4 months. Currently working on convincing the Wife for a tank.


Quick question for my SoCal people, what temp do you sent your HVAC in your homes during the summer months. I’ll likely running a face over the surface during the summer.

I run house at 76-77 in summer here in southern CA.
My 40 gallon tank runs at 77 normally (summer and winter) with no special attention paid to cooling (when AC is working, that is).

Getting the wife's permission is essential. I really lucked out with my wife. She's cool with it. Her only demand is that I get hermit crabs. I can do that! Welcome to the Boards!

I keep my AC at 76-77 in the summer. No need for a chiller.

That’s good to hear and sell to the wife. We run the AC at 74 in the evening. We’re in the San Gabriel Valley “SGV”

Hello and Welcome to R2R! I'm not from your area but I keep my house at 74 during the summer months. At that temp, the tank temp doesn't ever go high.
