Hello, I'm Eric and enjoying reefing in South Texas. I started off the hobby 20+ years ago with an oceanic 55 gallon, wet/dry filter, whisper hang on back filters, protein skimmer, uv sterilizer, and VHO lighting, I gave up the hobby when my daughter was born and who is now an Aggie, Whoop! studying biomedical sciences at A&M college station. Fast forward through those years and 7 years ago I received a gift card and decided why not purchase a 29 gallon biocube...needless to say I was hooked, had a handful of tanks here and there and actually was going to give up, (too much noise with T5s/MHs) when LEDs hit the market it was the answer to making a super quiet tank with low power consumption and minimal heat. Don't get me wrong I think T5s and MHs are still a proven lighting technology that provide exceptional growth rates for almost all corals.
Today I have a Marineland custom 125 48" x 24" x 25" with three sides starfire and three AI Vega fixtures. I love this tank. I also have a 150+ gallon frag tank where my Mantis lives and utilize a 48" and 32" Photon series Reefbreeder lights. I'm always looking for that crazy zoa, paly, or acan but I do have quite a collection of SPS thanks to a friend of mine.
I also have battled pretty much every reef pest with the exception of red bugs, (thank goodness) and have insight on what works for me and what doesn't. Thanks and happy reefing!
