Not new to the hobby but I have been on a long hiatus. I'm finally back to a point where I'm ready to get back in, and jumped in headfirst.
My name is Stephanie and I live in San Antonio, TX. Married to a big kid, have a new daughter and two spoiled rotten dogs. Blackhawk crew chief in the national guard, desk jockey during the week. Trying to go back to get my RN and become a nurse anesthetist.
Started with a 5.5 two months ago knowing I wanted a bigger tank but nanos have always been my favorite. I figured this would be the tank i put in my office at work. Two weeks later bought a 75g for a space in the new house we bought. Ten days later decided it wasn't big enough. Convinced my other half a 185 (48x30x30) was sufficient; for now anyhow! Then got a killer deal on a JBJ 28g. Four weeks after starting, we had our first kiddo. Tomorrow, we move into the new house. Things are a tad hectic at the moment, but just the way I like it. Staying busy prevents me from going stir crazy since I still have not been able to drink ;-)
If you did the math I currently have four tanks. I will sell the 75 once the big one is up and running, but as it currently houses some of my live rock/coral and all fish it has to stay (much to my husbands chagrin.) Should have the big tank up this week. Everything is ready to go, just have to plumb it. JBJ is getting drilled and then will be up and running. Ideally I'd like to get that done this week. My new daughter may have other ideas though!
The big thing back when I got out was power compacts and halides, so the LED lighting has really intrigued me. I've got leds on all the tanks (maxspect 420r nano on the 5.5, one AI sol on the 28, four kessil a 360N pendants on the 185.) The ecotech powerheads have also made my day, and I have an MP10wES for the 28 and two MP40wES for the 185. I can see myself possibly switching to radions in the future for the compatibility features but for now I've spent enough. Any more and I may be looking at divorce papers. Although he really does enjoy looking at the tanks and learning about corals and fish.
Enough rambling. Heres a picture of the 75, water streaks on the front and all, as it currently sits. No rockscape just a survival mode placement for everything in there.

I have my old lab (who I don't think will make it much longer. She's 14 and seems to be heading downhill the past month) and a 2.5 year old ****** doberman that my daughter adores. Daughter has a pony, and I have my cutting horse, but can't ride at the moment (medical BS.) I'm pretty excited about getting back in to the hobby (actually, REALLY excited. My ex HATED it, and I was really sad when I got rid of everything.)
