Hello,

Might as well introduce myself. I have been into reefing for a little over 4 months. I bought a mature 70 gallon tank with a 20 gallon "sump" off of craigslist. It was pretty neglected, covered in algae, but I wanted it to be a project. Starting from scratch is fun, but I liked the challenge of restoring a cheap tank. I have been adding and modifying it ever since. It came with a Banggai Cardinalfish, that we (my wife and I) believe is around 4-5 years old. We have added 2 Ocellaris Clownfish, 1 Green Chromis (3 originally), and a Kole Tang. We have a RBTA, 6 Mexican Turbos, a Snowball Urchin, a Royal Urchin, a Conch, a Sand Sifting Starfish, and a couple other smaller snails. Coral wise, we have a Frogspawn, Xenia, a Green Hammer, a Green Birdsnest, a random LPS, a Neon Green Trumpet, and a hitchhiker Zooanthid that came on the back of an urchin.

Lighting is a simple cheap T5 system, that came with the tank. The corals have been reacting very well to it. We have in our sump a refugium with sea lettuce, and a GFO/Carbon BRS reactor. We are running the new 200 HPG heater from Finnex. Thats a bout it.

Welcome to R2R!! I absolutely love south Carolina. My wife and I visited the marine base by Port Royal and loved it. We hope to move in that area some day :)

Other end of the coast. I live on the Grand Strand (Myrtle Beach for anyone not familiar with the regions of South Carolina).

Welcome @SENOREIDA to R2R.

@Crabs Mcjones , you've peaked my interest.....I have family in Hilton Head and a little island in Okatie, halfway between Hilton Head and Beaufort....as well as a number of Marines in the family. Now you visited a "Marine Base". Are we talking Parris Island or the Marine Air Base in Beaufort. I don't believe the Air Base is open to the public, so it must have been Parris Island. My dad enjoyed his visit to Parris Island when he went through there during WWII. Recently returned to PI with my 91 year old dad.....luckily he didn't remember anything....except when we were viewing a film of the History of the Marines, it finished with the Hymn, and my dad started singing the hymn, and when it finished, all the others in the theater gave him an ovation. Brought a tear to my eyes.

Parris Island :) We went down there for a week for vacation and to attend my sisters graduation from Marines Basic Training. She now is stationed in Japan and works on fighter jets.
