I’ve been in and out of The hobby for 30 years
I’m about to upgrade my 32 1/2 gallon to a Red Sea max S 400 or 500 trying to find out if the reef mat system by Red Sea will work in the max s series

Welcome to R2R! I don't know for sure about the ReefMat with the Max S series but you may want to check the Red Sea YouTube channel. They did a number of videos after the introduction of the Reef Mat on converting their sumps for it.
