Wow! What a response! It can be a bit intimidating to post my humble tanks here, I know you guys are kind to newbies like me.
Rich don't worry about posting pics just cause they aren't as beautiful as others ! You will see a few of mine & know what I'm talking about .
Welcome to R2R! I'd prefer Florida not be so sunny. :p
I'm with You on the Too much sun ! I'm old & fat . when out in the hard sun I start smoking like a vampire !

My name is Charles and I started my first reef tank in the early nineties , boy has the hobby changed! I moved from Massachusetts to Florida in 2005 where I meet my wife had a family. My passion and love for this hobby has become a family affair. Which is really great for me because my wife doesn't complain to much when I want to buy the latest and greatest gadgets. My buddy told me about reef to reef and that I should join since I have over 2000 gallons of water and many systems. I checked it out last night and I was very impressed by the forum, the wealth of knowledge of the members and the genuine passion of everyone. I look forward to learning and also giving advice as well if needed.
Welcome to R2R, you’ve joined an awesome community of reefers:)

Welcome to R2R!

Here's a pic from one of my favorite articles on reefkeeping, applicable to new hobbyists and old as well:

The nitrogen cycle is only the startup of a SW tank cycle. The next 6-12 months is a maturing phase, and it's typically in this time frame where algae outbreaks occur and things can sort of roller-coaster, and if you stock the tank up too quickly, you might see corals randomly dying & fish getting sick, etc...hobbyists can very easily fall into the trap of chasing problems = making more problems => giving up and selling everything off. We don't want that to happen to anyone!

Long-term stability and balance are the keys, and you just can't shortcut the process significantly. That's always the #1 thing to keep in mind!
