Hi everyone,
I am currently a student enrolled at the University of Florida studying fisheries and aquatic sciences. I've been lurking the site for some time now but finally decided it was time to make an account. I currently work at a marine ornamental fish production facility in central Florida and am just getting into the coral game, oh joy. Just wanted to say hello and extend my offer to help of anyone on the forum trying to work with fish. I would also like to see if there's any divers out there who like to get out on the weekends.

welcome to the forum! sounds like you have a pretty a pretty cool job! what types of fish does the facility propogate? How far along in school are you? Aquatic sciences sounds like a very cool major.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone! I would rather not say where I work, just to keep business separate from fun here on the forums. However, I can say that I'm doing quite a bit of work with high end clownfish. I'm going into my last year for my B.S. at UF. For the summer I'm just enjoying my time in Tampa with family and working, then it's back to Gainesville in the fall.

Any reef related events going on this summer in the Tampa area ?

I'm a diver but live south of you in Sarasota. Are you from Florida?
Also if you get a chance the aquarium at Epcot in Orlando is fun to dive.

Wouldn't mind doing some dives some time as long as we don't go looking for the great white thats out in the gulf. Lol

That's awesome. I'm not a native Floridian but I've been here since I can remember. Have you ever dove the Spanish rocks off Ana Maria ? I've been wanting to check that out. I also do a lot of spear fishing.

As for the sharks I'm all for staying as far away as possible. I was recently working for a marine lab in the keys before I started at the job I'm at now. Unfortunately, sharks loved to hang out on all of our research sites lol.

Thanks for the heads up about Epcot. I had no idea that they had such a large tank. I did dive the Georgia aquarium though. That place is amazing. Check it out if you get the chance.
