I was a member of R2R several years ago, but we made a long awaited move to a remote NC mountain in the midst of the Pisgah National Forest which meant no access to our former emails, so am starting anew. How remote? No cell service, 25 minutes to any store, over 1 hour to a town of more than 2,000. We love it!
But reefing is a challenge up here. Our mountain water is clean & delicious but RODI filters are toast in 3 weeks. No overnight deliveries, but we can get 2 day. If a piece of equipment goes out or plumbing fails, there isn't a handy reef store 10 min. away as at our previous home.
So after a year adjusting, we have decommissioned our 75 gal SCA with sump and dusted off our trusty (& much easier) biocube29. Instead of a chore, our little reef is a joy again and fits in the great room where we spend most of our time. We are looking forward to filling it with corals again (lost most of ours over the past year, but still have our 1st coral, a frogspawn & some acans & ricordia) to accompany our original 6 1/2 year old clown pair & 3 year old firefish.
I look forward to updating my reefing knowledge here again. If you wonder why we moved to such an inconvenient place, our view at sunrise & this winter from the deck & great room...
