Hi everyone,

Heard a lot about this website so thought I'd join and take advantage of the vast amount of knowledge and experience available on here :)

I've been a reefer now for about 18months and started off with a nano but as the bug took hold I soon upgraded to a 70G sumped system which has been set up now for about 9 months now. I battled with Dino's for about 5 months and after eradicating it with a 3 day blackout I know find myself battling with bright green Cyano.

My tank is lightly stocked with fish and LPS but my love is Zoa's, I have quite a few high ends which Include Pink Krak's and a Strat, hopefully I may be able to source a few more from here as the UK is very limited in the way of varieties available here.

Anyway I've gone on for too long, here's a quick pic of my Cyano ridden tank.

welcome to the forum! I'm sure if you beat dinos - cyano should be no big deal :) You've found the right forum if you're a zoa lover - there are some major zooaholics on here

Welcome and there are always a ton of Zoas on here. There are often people with high end frag packs for sale

Thanks for your warm welcome everyone, just read thru my thread and apologies for the poor grammer (must learn to read thru before posting)

Always interested in buying high end packs if anyone is willing to post to the UK :)

That bright green cyano is a real pain. The worst I've ever dealt with. Syphon it out every day, maybe you'll get rid of it?

welcome jay! i hope your battle with cyano is going well. that stuff will make your tank go anaerobic & deplete your tank of O2, robbing your coral of oxygen. cyano usually blooms, because of high nutrients in the water column. so i would suggest weekly water changes, even if its just 5 gal. & try to syphon out as much as possible. i don't know whats your feeding regimen, but i would advice to cut back a bit & when you do feed, it being frozen, pellet, flake, etc. make sure you feed slowly, that it all gets eaten & non gets to the bottom & ignored. i good thing to have, is a diverse cleaning crew, its always fun to watch them at work. i.e. brittle starfish, variety of hermit crabs & snails, shrimps, slugs, emerald crabs, a goby, urchin, etc. they are worth every penny. hope to have helped a bit. good luck with the battle & happy reefing.

Thanks Res,

I've been syphoning weekly tbh. Shouldn't the skimmer be introducing O2 to the tank?

I've got loads of cuc as you suggested and feed very little once a day, sometimes every other day and weekly water changes are 25litres.
