Hello,
My Name is Josh/Doyle - the latter my preferred gaming tag. I am an avid gamer, computer and console, as well as computer builder. My occupational title is what's known as a process engineer in my trade. I work for a local precision machine shop. One of the benefits of being a fancy machinist is I can pretty much fabricate anything I might need- if it can be cut, I can machine it. Very handy indeed. For a while now I've been keeping freshwater tanks, not that long ago I saw a beautiful coral set up that I couldn't take my eyes off of. (I am sure this is a feeling that everyone on this message board can relate to) I knew right then and there I had to have one. This not being my first or even second technical endeavour as a hobby, the first thing I do is research. Read, read, read.
I have no questions or comments at this time. Right now I am absorbing and learning from your posts, the mistakes and your victories. That said I think my first step will be designing my system. Taking in what I've read into account, it will need to be as modular as possible and as large as I can reasonably afford, likely in the area of 60-100 gallons for the display tank. I haven't started pricing filtration equipment or lighting yet. I've been concentrating on tanks and stands. Once I have my design specs laid out to my liking I'll be posting them for you guys to check and give me feed back, I'm going to need it! Thanks for reading my little post.
