Hi all,

I’ve been out of the hobby for about ten years now. I used to keep a 225 gallon show tank + 75 gallon refugium + 60 gallon sump. 3x 250w halides, calcium reactor, skimmer, chiller, etc. (before LEDs became the norm). I used to keep clams, sps, lps, fish and other inverts. This system was in Brooklyn New York.

I’ve since moved to Palm Beach Florida and am hoping to slowly get back into the hobby. So I’ll be following along to learn of all the nuances as well as what older methods are still working. Look forward to chatting with you all.

One question so far...is there a South Florida specific forum? Also, anyone know of any good local reef associations? I was a founding member of the Long Island Reef Association back in the day and it was fun and educational. Anything like that in south Florida?

thanks!

So I’m realizing (with a little research) that although “the higher the volume, the better” still holds true, it has become more possible to have a smaller successful cube tank. I’m thinking something like 30Lx30Wx24H (inches) to get me back into the hobby. Thoughts?

also, can someone direct me to the best choice of rimless starphire cube tanks with built in overflows?

thanks in advance.
