Hello thought I would introduce myself. I have been keeping several fw aquariums for about a year now and have decided to setup my first saltwater tank. Some quick details about my planned setup- I will be using a 72 gallon bowfront will be going sumpless. I have a bubble magus hob skimmer that I picked up. I also have 90 lbs of rock which is dry right now along with 80 lbs of sand. At this time I will be starting with a fowlr system and a year or two down the road look into keeping some corals. I am sure I will be posting again as questions arise as I work on planning my build ;)

Welcome to reef2reef!!! Some advice I think is that if you want to keep corals down the road, I would skip the fish only tank and go straight to keeping easier corals. Fish only systems tend to accumulate a lot of waste because of the choice of fish people choose. Tailor your tank to what you really want to keep and if it's ultimately corals, I would just go for it. There are a ton of people on here that will help you with advice on keeping them. :D

Welcome to R2R!

Thanks Malorie, one of the things that I am doing is as I research the fish that I want to keep and work on planning my stocking list, is that I am looking at fish that are reef compatible. I am still working on figuring what I want to do for my lighting. Thinking leds but still have lots of research to do there :)

Welcome to R2R! It is great to see that you are actively researching the kind of system and livestock you want before you take the plunge. It is so easy to get caught up in the moment and make poor decisions that could be avoided with a little research and patience.

We're looking forward to seeing a build thread from you and following your progress...

Thank you for the warm welcomes :) When I started my fw tank I made the mistake of jumping in before doing my research, fortunately I had found a forum with a good active fw section and started learning from there. I definitely want to do this tank right, so lots of research and taking it slowly which my budget will help me to be able to keep that in check. I will be starting a build thread soon, at work right now and break times just aren't long enough to focus on getting that going at the moment.
