Hey guys! So I m Andrew from NY
I have a new tank i put together with 180 lbs live rock from existing tank aswell as 120lbsnatures ocean live sand and another 80-100 lbs live sand from existing tank of LR.

i have been running 3 weeks with 1 tank 4 chromis and 2 damsels with like 15 members of a cleanup crew.

I am getting brown algae on my sand bed and the rocks, I killed my lights for 24hours and it went away but it comes back within a few hours of the lights being on.

My phosphates are .25ppm and nitrates maybe 1.o ppm ammonia 0ppm

i am running a skimmer and GFO aswell as i just put cheato in my sump but cheato does not seem to be growing.

any idea how i can stop the algae and get my levels better?

Welcome to R2R. Your tank is still in the initial cycle process. Reefing in about patients, and I would suggest not making any changes or additions for at the least of 30 day for your system to finish cycling and the bio load to catch up.

Im thinking it was mostly my ****** lighting creating the algae cause i got some cheap butt led green element lights.
So i just let it be and it will go away on its own? How long does that usually take?

Some brown algae on sand on a new tank can be expected in first few months. Usually when it starts to move up the rocks it’s on it’s way out.
What light is on the cheato? Light cycle?

Some led light i got on ebay. Its more blue hue. Not sure what light i should get for cheato. Or should i make a reactor with red/ultraviolet led string

You can use minimal light for now. If you only have clean up crew and a couple fish they don't require very much light. That will help reduce green algae and customs when they crop up.

Also i notices 2 small aiptasias on my rocks. I had another rock that had like 5 on it but i removed it from my tank. These other 2 are on different rocks and small. What should i do about that

I believe theres a way to inject a certain solution right into the aiptasia and it'll die immediately. I don't remember if it's peroxide or baking soda or what. May search for injecting aiptasia. But DEFINITELY kill it off now!

Agreed. If you have aptasia already, at this stage of the game, i’d sooner start over. There are ways to keep aptasia in check, but for every one you can see, there’s more you can’t

Kalkwasser, but put too much and it’s bad for tank

i read they die instantly under hot water what if i pull the rocks ad only the area i notice them i run under scorching hot water for 30 seconds and the rest of the rock still will have live bacteria
?

Inject kalkwasser, hot water, lime, glue them shut in hole, laser, peppermint shrimp, filefish, copperband, nudibranch, can all work, none are 100%

Exactly this. Make sure you inspect all your rock for any others they can pop up anywhere. Attack them now and keep attacking until they are gone. Kalk and lime work for me. I wouldn't try any live animals just yet but if that ends up being what you decide to do I highly recommend aptisa eating nubibranch they work really well and won't bother anything else in your tank. Peppermint shrimp can be annoying as they will steal food from coals if you plan on keeping any. I removed some from my tank because of this. The nubibranch did wonders for me. Copperband are awesome fish but hard to keep and very picky eaters you may go through a few of this fish before you get one that will live long-term and the tank needs to mature a lot more before trying this fish. I've heard great things about filefish have never tried one myself.

Make sure you research a good light for Cheato it really helps to have a lot of light on cheato. BRS(Bulk reef supply) has a great video about this look it up I think you will find it very helpful.
