Hello,
I am aquarium enthusiast of 10 years. This will be my first salt water adventure, we have lots of fresh water. I am an active duty military member from Louisiana. I was born and raised just south of Lake Charles Louisiana. After joining the Air Force, I lived in Arizona for a year then was assigned to Barksdale AFB in Bossier City Louisiana for almost 6 years. Did a one year remote tour without the wife and kids in South Korea, then ended up here in The Black Hills of South Dakota. We love it here, but it's not home like Louisiana, pet stores where better on the gulf coast than here in SD. Like I stated, we are a fresh water family. My setup is a 200 gallon fresh water, my wife has a very colorful 55 gallon setup. My daughters have small 10 gallon set ups. We also have 2 terrarium setups with poison dart frogs. The new addition for salt water will be a 90 gallon that I acquired for free (trade at no cost to me) with stand, lights, 80 lbs of use to be live rock, 100 gallon Fluval canister filter, and power heads. Any advice on setting up is appreciated. I will be drilling my new tank for an overflow/sump setup and using the canister for charcoal filtering. Not really sure yet about the sump setup yet, I have a spare 75 that I will be swapping out with my wife's narrow 55 to use for a sump setup. I am a DIY guy, so if there is a possibility that it can be built, I will build it. I am a machinist, welder, CNC programmer and operator for the Air Force, so making things comes really easy.
