I'm new to this forum and to saltwater, though I am a member of many other forums and a sort of veteran freshwater keeper. My first sw setup is a 30 gallon marineland half moon tank with a coralife dual t5, stock LEDs, two hydor 425 power heads, a CPR hob refugium/protein skimmer, standard 100 watt heater, and a jbj internal filter uv sterilizer. I got it up and running last September and have kept nothing but live rock, hermits and 4 yt damsels until now. And the only hitch hikers I saw we're aiptasia, which have been taken care of. In the last month I ditched the damsels for a pair of clowns and the anemone they were hosting at the lfs. Then, just to give it a shot, I picked up a green star coral. This coral flourished quickly so I thought I'd add something else. My lfs has frags, or for high dollar they sell large corals attached to large live rocks and covered in purple algae, I went with the latter, got a 4 lb rock with a cabbage coral coving the whole upper half for 50$. I get it home and as soon as it touched water two brittle stars fell into the rest of my rock, there was a hermit in the cooler I transported it in, and I've seen at least three starfish, a sea slug of some sorts, an itty bitty lil snail, and these little white worms. All these creatures are extremely tiny at the moment and I'm wondering will any of them grow large, and can anything produce problems in the future. The starfish I've seen are blue, white, and green, I've heard some can eat coral. And what is that slug thing. Ill try to post pics when I see these thing again.
