Hello! Please critique new member's tank

Hi! First time posting and would really appreciate opinions on my 2 month old tank. Would appreciate tips on how to make it better. It's a JBJ 24g Nano. Thanks!

Your tank needs to cycle complete and build up bacteria that can break down your bioload. Overloading a small system with that many fish can lead to problems. Just be aware of your parameters and test often until your tank matures.

I think he's afriad you will have a spike in the tank , 2 months is still considered kind of new . No worries, when i was at the 2 month mark, i had about the same amount of stuff you have. Not all tank are the same, some tank will take longer to mature , some will take quicker to mature.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't add any livestock until after 4 weeks of cycling (using Dr. Tim's). Water parameters have been a steady 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 ppm nitrate. Weekly 2 gallon water changes are also done.

Everything looks like it is doing good. Like the above members were saying just be careful. Two months is still a fairly new system and parameters can still fluctuate easily. Do you have an ATO on it yet?

Will definitely keep on testing water paramenters weekly. And no ATO yet. I inspect/atop off if needed every other day.

I think your tank looks great for two months. Just give it time.

I would highly recommend that an ATO be your next purchase for your setup. On a smaller set up like your 24g things like the salinity can fluctuate very easily so even though you are checking and topping off frequently it still isn't as stable and reliable as a good ATO. It will save you headache and time in the long run.

hey Peter, Are you referring to the green algae on the glass or the brown on the sand? I was told the brown (diatoms) on the sand is normal (?) in a young tank.

Looking good. My advice is to be carefull and don't overfeed that is where tanks get into problems.
