I have been reading threads for a while now and finally decided to register. I've had a 90g reef tank for over ten years. I let things go after my last move and the birth of my daughter. After 2 years of only top offs my wife said get the tank going or get rid of it. I took that as my permission to spend some money so I switched my metal halides for a couple AI Hydra 52 HD's. I got addicted to watching BRS youtube videos, heard about R2R and here I am.

My fish did not survive the last move I made but I had a few corals and 100+ pounds of live rock, I knew I would get back into it soon but with a new careeer, and a new baby I committed some serious tank neglect. I am ashamed to say, I had no powerheads running no heater and no light, only astinics and moon lights because my hailides were fried. I couldn't even see into the tank.

Surprisingly when I cleaned the glass my serpent star of ten years was there to greet me. I had a hammer once the size of a football degraded to 5 small heads that appear to be bleached. Button polyps that didn't seem to notice I was gone and some cabbage leather that managed to hang on (but not much left) as well as an Acan colony. I also saw a couple hermits moving around to my surprise as well.

After setting up my LEDs I rearranged my aquascape, did 50% Water change, filled my top off tank, plugged in the heater and powerheads. And stocked up at Dr Fosters and Smith. I ordered a clean up crew. Miniature yellow tang, miniature hippo blue tang, 2 clowns, a miniature flame angel, and 6 green chromis. Also pick up an sps frag pack. They were all added 4 weeks ago and everything seems to be doing great so far. Except one of the clowns died after 2 days and I could not find the body.

I am a long way off before I can hold a candle to any of the tanks I've seen on this site but I hope to get there someday. I almost wish I never found this site because I'm thinking UPGRADE UDGRADE UPGRADE. I know an Apex will be at my doorstep soon.

Thanks for reading. I'm looking forward to being a member.

Welcome to R2R.
most of the tanks have had some neglect period at some stage. good thing you decided to revive it and most important is that you registered on the forum as that helps share success (and sometimes mishaps) and it helps keep you motivated.
Suggest you createa build thread with loads of pictures and periodical updates thats a nice way to share your setup and get many suggestions. it also helps you track the progress of your tank when needed.

Welcome to Reef2Reef, Great to hear that you restarted the tank, what I noticed that many hobbyist got away from reef keeping or neglect there tanks, but sooner or latter considerable number make the return.
I made my return 2 years ago after 4 years break, I never throw any equipment, I kept everything, even the rock I have bleached and dried, and it was setting there until I have started my new build.

+1 on creating build thread and posting as many photos as you can
