Hi. You have come to the right place. There is nothing you can't get an answer for on here. Seriously helpful for us newbies.

Welcome, we don't bite! Lol

Just some points:

You will want a skimmer at some point soon. Plenty of HOB skimmers to choose from out there.

RO/DI is highly advised.

ATO is a big help, lots of ways to do one.

Good quality test kits are needed.

A refractometer is the best for measuring SG. Keeping it calibrated is best.

There's more...... but that's a start.

Our tank is one month old today. We have 6 crabs, 2 snails, and a green star polyp. So far, so good. I wouldn't have been able to do this without some people on here holding my hand every step of the way.

Yes I have all that. But I'm skipping the skimmer for awhile no rush. I'm running GFO-ChemiPure Blue & PollyFilter Pad. Very comfortable with that for now. Have test kit. RO is right around the corner from my house literally :) and I keep some for topoff. And I am getting a top off thingy asap. Thanks for the advice

Welcome. Your tank looks good.
Can I make a suggestion?
If than is the 300 watt Mars Aqua I would hang it about 10-14 inches above your tank. They are very strong lights. It will help to get you colors blended from the individual leds and not disco your sandbed.

Good to hear. You may not need the GFO right now. Do you have info on cycling a saltwater tank?

I have the mars aquas and as Test led has stated, they are very powerful. I have mine 12" above my water line.

Yes have all that info. I'm in no rush at all. It's been 4 days. Thinking one 2 fish maybe this weekend see how everything looks. My 8yr old is waiting patiently for his Nemo. Lol Haha!

I almost forgot...we also have newly discovered amphipods, Spiro something worms, and a starfish. There is something new all the time. Sadly, the starfish had to be removed.

Welcome!
I just joined 2 days ago and just like you i'm in the early stage, well 4months in but still no corals or knowlage about the hobby except for keeping clowns alive.

This feels like a really good and helpful forum and everyone has been very polite!
