Another female here
It is really funny how I got hooked. Came over from Ukraine 17 years ago. I have never seen a saltwater fish tank in my life. I loved watching diving documentaries, but could never imagine in a million years that someone can keep that life at home.
So it happened, I needed to purchase a gift for a child's birthday who I knew had a fish tank. I went to a pet store and picked out the prettiest pair of fish I could find (they were clowns as I found out later). You could probably guess what happened next...the birthday child had a freshwater tank.
No one was home, so I left a gift hoping to make a nice surprise. That was quite a surprise!
:mad:Imagine a hysterical child and panicking parents driving around trying to find a place to save a pair of dying fish on his birthday. From that day a total new world came to my life with ocean, saltwater fish, corals and diving. I was totally hooked.
My tank now is 15 years old. It's 65lb with clowns of cause and anemone, some mushrooms, sps and lps. I have a small refuge where I try to grow mangroves once in a while. For some reason they don't last. Two years ago we updated MH to LEDs. Tank is always a work-in-progress
