Just wanted to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Chris and I am from Houston, TX. I have been interested in having my own Reef Aquarium for a while now and have been doing my research here and there. @Diesel suggested that I create an account here as well, so here I am!

My suggestion is that once you start your build, start a Member's Tank thread and document all that you're doing. It's great to go back after a period of time and see all the improvements and changes that have occurred.

Chris, explain a little what you're planning to do as far of your future reef tank............

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Well, what first got me interested in Saltwater Aquariums was when my uncle had a 75 gallon one in his living room around 20 years ago.

I am definitely interested in a mixed reef tank and leaning towards a 90 gallon one, but I am also open to other sizes. I figure the main fish dwellers in the tank would be some clown fish and tangs, but I would like to have a seahorse or two if they are viable with corals. As for some of the corals I am interested in, Zoanthids are at the top.

My budget is probably around the $2k mark. So I basically need help with what I actually need for a mixed reef tank, size of the sump, what kind of lighting would I need for a 90 gallon mixed reef tank, others options that may be possible etc. I know this is an open ended question, but any suggestions would be great!

Welcome aboard! Take sometime to read up some build threads here. So many different equipments will be needed on a mix reef. Also depends if you want a more natural approach or mechanical removal of nutrients. Remember to start a build thread when you do. Lots of pic will be nice.

*Welcome to Reef2Reef @chrfrancis !* I would suggest using the biggest sump possible.This will give you plenty of room for equipment and live rock.There are many nice skimmer and lighting options available.I have had good success with Ocean Revive LED lighting and I really like the Octopus brand skimmers.
