Yes a build thread is just that. You start a thread in one of the "Members Aquarium Discussion" areas, which ever one you feel is most appropriate. You can edit your posts there so many users have the first point of sale as like an overview that they update and then the details and day to day are added as you feel the inspiration. There are several very nice things that come from this. People can get to know you and your tanks so they will feel more enabled to offer advice and praise than they would in random threads. If you add the URL for your build thread to your account settings (near the bottom in -- 'R2R Tank Thread Link:' you will get a 'Build Thread Contributor' badge in you user pane. Then people can easily find your build thread from anywhere you post. I can't tell you how many times I've read an interesting post in a thread and popped over to that person's build thread to learn more about them and their tanks.
