Hello, I am new member, hailing from Acton, MA and endeavoring to set up a 40G Saltwater tank. I've had freshwater tanks before but venturing into saltwater is new for me. I'm currently reading up on the initial steps, poking around a setup guides, etc... Don't want to get to extreme, just a simple tank with some "hardier" but enjoyable fish that the kids can enjoy. Any tips welcome!

Thanks,
-Jason

Welcome Jason.

Clowns are always a kick, kids love them. Royal Grammas are a cool and colorful fish.

Look into setting up a simple quarantine tank so you can possibly forgo the common parasites and avoid introducing them into your tank.

Just go slow initially and research any potential purchases.

You think you are going to just do simple, and the you get bit by the saltwater bug. Once you seen how much fun the fish are to watch you will want to keep going and going and going .......... $$$$$$$$$$$$. Enjoy and good luck. Clowns are great, don't believe anything the local fish store (lfs) tells you. There just trying to sell you things. Think of them as a used car sales men. Good luck this site is the best for getting info.

Welcome! Try to stay away from Damsel fish. Although hardy, they get to be pretty mean and are nearly impossible to catch.
