I've been lurking for a while so I figured I'd better say hey.
I've been keeping fresh water planted tanks for about 5 years now. I figured the next step was a reef tank soni dove right in. I started out on the right foot with a free 75g and I had an old 30 to use for the sump. I got an 8 bulb T5 from a friend for next to nothing. I made my own over flow box and with 2 great deals on craigslist I only had to spend a few hundred bucks to get started.
Currently the tank is cycled but still trying to work out a few small algae issues. I think it is coming along pretty well. I set up a second sump because my protein skimmer would not fit in the sump under the DT, it ended up working out well and brought my total water volume up to about 100g.
Currently on my tank I have a:
Purple tip mushroom
Frog spawn
Small Christmas favia
Some sinularia
LTA
4 clowns
Algae Blenny
5 peppermint shrimp
A few snails and crabs
The clowns were tank breed by a local breeder and were only half an inch when I got them. If they don't get along I plan on moving 2 of them to the sump.
