Hi, my name is Sara and I am from Yorkshire, England.
I have a son who is Autistic and has his heart set on starting a Jellyfish tank. We have only ever had goldfish (from the fair!) and our last tank was tropical although this was around 9/10 years ago.
We have been doing some research into the setup and maintenance of a saltwater tank to keep the jellyfish and also the different kinds of jellies you can get.
So far we have a biorb halo 60l which we bought second hand and it came with led lights & remote, the original ceramic media, filter cartridge compartment, airstone with airpump and tube, a small heater and 2 small submersible pumps.
I am sure there is alot to learn (even though I have done more homework on researching jellies and tanks in the last several weeks than i ever did as a kid!) and I am hoping all you lovely folk on here can steer us in the right direction. I have a few questions if anybody is able to help me?
Thanks
Hi Sara and Welcome! Glad you joined. I am Lisa, and I've never had jellyfish, so I'll defer to others. You've got me interested!! This is a great family hobby and kids really enjoy it.
Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I wish I had started in the planning phase, and it sounds like you are right there right now. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)
This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
