I've seen the articles around Facebook (specifically the fantastic tank builds) and while googling for info, and finally decided to join up and say hello and introduce myself.

I'm a recent college graduate, living just north of Seattle, which means I buy ramen and reefing supplies. Three years ago, after a trip to the local aquarium I was inspired to try my hand at keeping a saltwater tank. After weeks of research and against my better financial judgement I bought a 30 gallon tank and skimmer off craigslist. I kept that up for about a year before dismantling due to a summer job where I would spend a few months in Alaska commercially fishing for salmon (I know, the irony is not lost on me. Or my buddies at the fish store). After a decent season, I came back and upgraded to a 55 gallon tank I got off craigslist for $100. I upgraded my lighting from a mix of LED's and Halogens I wired up out of garage sale items and late night Amazon purchases to two Radion X15 G3's (with the reef link) and added a MP10 QD to my host of (rather impressively resilliant) "off-brand" powerheads.
That tank is still up and running well. However, after another slightly less successful fishing season, I recently bought a 155g bow front off craigslist and am in the process of outfitting and building it.
Perhaps a build thread is in order? Its not the greatest setup out there, but I'm broke, good with my hands, and a product designer. So at least it should be interesting.

Welcome to R2R and thanks for signing up. Sounds like you've been bitten by the reef bug at this point. Definitely start a build thread and share your progress. Great place to ask questions and look back on where it all started!!!

This is the most recent picture I have of the 55 Gallon. LOTS more coral now, and slightly fewer fish as I prepare to set up the 155 gal and sell this one (tank, lights, pumps and all)

I'm beginning to think that all refers are broke. The only difference is the size/value of the tank and corals! :p

Welcome to R2R! Great to have you here!
