Hi there,
On forums I use the alias StK, they're my initials. I am Steve and new to this forum, hence this post :xd: I am not new to fishkeeping as I have had a couple of freshwater aquariums for a few years now. My current tank is 6ft long x 3ft deep x 18" wide and houses a few tinfoil barbs, Clown loaches, lightning blue jack dempseys, a couple of Algae eaters and some yellow fish
However that's not the reason I am joining the forum, why would I join a saltwater forum to discuss a fresh water tank
oh: no, the reason I am joining is that next week Sunday I am bringing home a new tank and it is colossal  it is 7 ft long x 3ft wide x 5 ft deep...this thing is huge, I've never seen anything like it and best of all I am getting it for the cost of delivery. It belonged to my managing director while he was living in Hong Kong, he brought it over to the UK but then decided to get rid of it. It was going to go in the skip :squigglemouth: I said nooooo I'll take it.
So long story long this used to be a marine tank and it's future is to be a marine tank too. However I know nothing of Marine tanks hence why I am here now. The tank comes with a sump tank and filter but I need to know a lot more about Marine tanks before I start. Ian aware that big tanks are easier for maintaining water quality, which is good but new to me are sump tanks, protein skimmers etc..etc...
A freshwater tank is easy, get an external filter or in my case for my tank 3  and do a 10% water change very other week whilst monitoring nitrates and nitrites....easy
Been told this is the place to be to find useful info on a Marine tanks so here I am :xd:
Sorry for the long post and nice to meet you all.
