Hi Everyone,

I always feel it's important to be polite and say hello so here I am saying hello to you all.

My name is Ryan and I live in NJ. I am very new to owning fish, as in I just got my first fish since winning my carnival gold fish when I was 8. Now I am 32 with two clownfish! I am excite to learn, make new friends, and it looks like spend a lot of money on fish.

Outside of the fish world I actually run a small IT business that provides turnkey support and solutions for businesses in the area. Its a lot of fun working for myself and has opened doors for me like spending time on the web learning about owning fish.

I am always happy to offer help where I can but I have nothing to offer you in the world of fish. However, if I can help anyone out in anyway I am happy to offer advice. I am already trying to think of ways I can incorporate my IT skills into my aquarium setup.

Well nice to meet you all. On another note I am already having trouble with my fish so feel free to check out my other post for my clowns. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

And this group is polite and helpful and caring ! Glad you are here!!

Welcome to R2R!!! I am excited to see how your tank and your reef/fish knowledge develops - obviously this is a great place for info! I also look forward to seeing you start to combine your IT expertise and your tank - definitely not a requirement, but it seems to happen!

Welcome Ryan to Reef2Reef or as I like to call it... therapy. So I cannot help but notice...you seem to have a thing for gold colored fish... Clowns, Goldfish... Coincidence....I think not. Tank is looking great so far, I have to ask though...what light are you using, because it has the tank lit up like the sun!

Yeah, I just saw Reef-Pi. I cant wait to give that a shot. Never played with a Rasberry Pi before but only because I haven't really had the need for one but this looks like the best excuse to get one.

The light is a Fluval Aquasky. While I don't really regret the purchase I kind of wish I took my time purchasing everything and really learned about all the different options. Then, again maybe I am happy I didn't just spend more on the light than I did on everything else combined or the sticker shock might have scared me away. But anyway, yeah the light has some auto controlling app. I can manually change the RGB but I just let it run it's auto setting. Should I be looking up different RGB settings for these fish? I haven't looked too far into this as I have been dealing with a different issue with one of the fish.
