So my wife and I had been thinking about getting an aquarium for awhile. We would often go to the LFS and look around but then get cold feet.
One day we found ourselves again at this store and my wife appeared to be ready to pull the trigger as she gained the attention of an employee and asked them to show us everything we needed to start a saltwater aquarium.
The employee began to lead us around the store and show us the basic stuff we would need. My wife listened and entered price tag information into her phone as we walked around and had the various items pointed out to us.
We completed this venture and my wife flashed her phone in my direction showing the final costs. I immediately balked as I was expecting something less. I believe my wife shared some of this hesitancy or observed my expression but nonetheless we thanked the employee for their time and said we would continue thinking about it.
We didn’t have our kids with us so I asked my wife if she wanted to instead of rushing home grab a quiet bite to eat. As we sat in our corona secluded section we began just chit chatting. My wife continued to bring up the fish tank. I made a few small comments as I was finishing my sandwich but my wife just couldn’t seem to stop thinking about the aquarium.
We finished up our meals, paid and left. As we were walking out to the car I told her “@#!# it!” let’s just do it. My wife was excited but was afraid if it turned into a disaster that I would say it was her idea. I started at 90% her idea and 10% my idea and even stated that if it was a big success she would get most of the credit. Being the street savvy woman that she is we finally spit-shook on 55% and 45%.
So we went back to the the LFS and purchased the basic stuff to get started and begin the cycle. After a few months have gone by our tank is slowly coming around and we both love it. I will end with one thing. If I could go back to that original price tag I would laugh at how low it was.
