What is the white hose coming from the top of the octo skimmer going to the bottom where the auto shutoff sensor goes ???

Its comes from pump to the muffler to keep noise down

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I was referring to the white hose that comes off the top skimmer lid going to the bottom of skimmer cup ! On the top it seems to be hooked up to where the shut off sensor would be then connected to the drain hole of the skimmer cup . Their doesn’t seem To have a purpose

It’s just the drain hose for the cup. Just stuck it in the top
