Hello! I am brand new to saltwater tanks and reefing.

I am starting to explore with a little 20-gallon tank. Just set it up a couple of weeks ago and it is close to being cycled! I'm looking forward to filling it soon!

My new tank is part of a design capstone exploration in coral reef keeping. The information in this forum has already helped so much with setting up my tank, I know that there is a lot of knowledge here! If anyone has a suggested thread where I could ask some pretty random questions about reef-keeping practices please let me know! I don't want to disrupt or ask questions in the wrong places

Welcome! Glad you joined. Seems like already within this thread you got some answers (posts #11 & #20... but 'strict rules' caused me to ROFL... its pretty relaxed around here... you just might not find anyone able to answer so question goes unanswered). Below is a link to Forum, and under each may have subject matter experts that watch that area of Forum to try and help. For instance, if you look up, your thread here is in Forum > Meet and Greet where friendly people hang out to say "Hi!!" as new introductions are made. You're in the right place (hugs)

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread under Forum > Member Aquariums and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID). It is never too early!

This might help you find people local to you in Cincinnati:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

Welcome to R2R! @Fish Think Pink gave you a very good non-tongue-in-cheek answer. If you question isn't on a specific topic like say lighting or a type of algae, 'Reef Aquarium Discussion' is a good place to begin. Your thread can always be moved by aa moderator if it will get more traction in another forum.
