Hello

Glad to read you have not purchased your tank yet.

I would encourage you to think about the fish you'd like to keep, THEN build your system around that.

Too often, people buy tanks only to find that it cannot house the fish which inspired them to build a system in the first place.
I want a pair of clown fish but I know I'm confined to like 2 fish max maybe 3 with the right filtration

That's easily doable. I have a pair of clowns in a 15 gallon and they are so happy, they spawn every month.

Put a pair of Anemomes in there (when the tank is mature) and enjoy the show!

That's good to hear s it possible to sad coral and fish around the same time after cycling?

It is a small tank. You can mix your salt water in a brute can and add it to the tank, once pH, Temp and Salinity are correct.

While doing that, rinse and add your substrate to the tank.

Add your salt water and start it up!

Now you can begin your cycle.

What are your plans for quarantine?

A 10 gallon tank with a heater hob power filter(aqua pro 70) a few pieces of rock thermometer . Is there anything else I should add also does one keep a quarantine tank running always?

Sounds like a solid plan. The only thing I would suggest, if any of your fish in QT begin showing signs of disease that require treatment with copper, you should remove the live rock first.

As I understand it, therapeutic levels of copper are difficult to maintain in tanks that contain rock as the rock absorbs the copper. Also, if ever you decide to use that rock in a display, it will leech copper back into the tank.

But lets not get ahead of ourselves and ask the experts what their opinion is on this...

A quarantine tank is generally an insurance policy for health of your specimens. With issues that face mainly wild caught clowns, would not be bad to utilize a quarantine tank and add ruby rally pro or Prazi Pro and get your display tank cycled and seeded during the quarantine process.
If you have not yet set up and cycled the display tank, simply add your bacteria and then ammonia chloride or a piece of shrimp (shrimp for 48 hours). Then you want to monitor ammonia , When your ammonia is steady at zero for 5 days and Nitrate is steady at 20 or below- You are cycled. Ignore nitrIte Unless sky high
The tank will go through two phases in which ammonia will rise then fall and nitrate will rise and fall which is normal. When fish are added, the bacteria population will increase with the new bio load, converting waste to nitrate.A quarantine tank is as simple as a starter kit from Walmart which has most of the essentials needed.
