Hello everyone. My name is Matt, I live in Powell and I am about to start assembling my first Marine Aquarium. Sluf681 told me about the club and I would love to join. I am putting together a 55 gallon tank. Starting as Fish with Live Rock but when I know the water is balanced moving into corals. I have always wanted to start a Saltwater tank so finally the time is near.

I am very into African Cichlids if anyone else is as well.

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome. As requested here are some pics of where I currently sit. This past Monday my wife's friend called me and told me to come take their saltwater aquarium, a 55 gallon, because 12 out of 14 fish had died. I set up a 10 gallon temporary tank to keep the clown and damsel alive. I get to there house a for the entire 55 gallon they had seven lbs of rock, a marineland 400, and black gravel. I thought I wouldn't even been able to get the 55 set up again due to lack of live rock but a guy in Chattanooga sold me 100lbs this morning for $50. He was breaking down his and wanted it gone. I got it home this afternoon and set most of it up in a rubbermaid but put 4 pieces in the temp tank. Tomorrow I am going to start setting.up the. 55. I don't have live sand yet but Rodney said he has a deal on some. But that's where I'm at. Headed to work now. If your in Turkey Creek tonight I'm the.GM of the Wok Hay out there.

My girlfriend and I love Wok Hay! I hated when the one on merchants closed. How late are you all open, we may have to eat there tonight. What kind of live sand can rodney get you? If you've got any questions on the setup let us know, we'd be glad to offer our experience and advice. It seems you've gotten a pretty good deal on your tank setup, congratulations, on your new addiction.

Friday and Saturday til Midnight. I close tonight so I will be driving back to Powell around 2am tonight.

I've got some aragonite (caribsea I think) that I'm gonna hook him up with. I had a bunch given to me that I'm not gonna use now.

Cool beans. Right now Im stuck thinking about drilling the tank. It's a 55 gallon. Better to do it? I know within a month I will want to set up a sump. I am buying my light tomorrow. I have the live rock, aquarium, salt water, stand, heater, HOB Filter, 4 powerheads. Rodney said he had the Live Sand and Im off work tomorrow so I wanted to get something accomplished tomorrow. I manage a restaurant so days I work its ussually 9am til 9pm so days off have to be productive.

If your planning on drilling the tank be sure that it's not tempered.
