I have two flow sensors; one 1” for my return and one 1/2” for my UV sterilizer. I haven’t had any issues with the 1” on my return, but I cannot get the 1/2” on my UV sterilizer to stop leaking.

I used RectorSeal No. 5 on the 1/2” flow sensor because it has threaded ends. I’ve had to take the flow sensor off and reapply the sealant more than five times, and I’m now frustrated. Both sides of the sensor, where the white PVC fittings thread onto the sensor, are where the leaks occur.

Below is an image of one of the leaks.

What else can I try? I’m ready to forego the sensor at this point because it’s been nothing but an annoyance and a waste of time.

Try good ole teflon tape

Are you using the BSP adapters that came with the sensor? If not, I second trying Teflon tape ….. and put a lot on.

Yep; I’m using the white adapters. I’ll give the tape a try.

I wrapped the threads in tape, and it's been holding for ~15 minutes now. Thanks for the suggestions about the tape!

Go to the hardware store and get some non-hardening thread sealant. Better and more reliable than teflon tape for threaded PVC connections.

Unfortunately, that’s what I initially used; RectorSeal No. 5 is a non-hardening thread sealant.

Glad I found this thread, I had the same issue with rector and pastes, finally Teflon tape which everyone hammers against worked to stop my leak. I think the tolerance between the coupler and the sensor are too large.
