Red and green algae spreading. Not sure exactly what it is and how to fix it or prevent it

Google cyano bacteria. It is a rite of passage and every tank gets it. It will go away on it's own after a while if you have good husbandry. Some folks take extreme measures to get rid of it but they usually pay back that time tenfold later on.

Most newer tanks will get some cyanobacteria, and some coraline is wine-red as well. If this stuff blows off of the rock easily with a turkey baster, it's not coraline.

Green algae is to be expected anywhere the light touches the rocks, and in some places where it doesn't. (I have green hair algae growing on the _bottoms_ of some shelf-rocks!) Might be time to add a few cleaner-uppers, increase flow or decrease feeding. (Fish will happily beg for more food than they need. Keep 'em healthy, but not too hefty!)

Cyano bacteria can be vaccumed out and increase flow. Green algae is expected just increase clean up crew
