I have two decent colonies of acan that have been growing next to a frogspawn for years. However I think the frogspawn finally got big enough to sting the acans.

I noticed them touching and moved the frogspawn but a huge chunk of red acan was already melted. I blew off the slime thinking that would stop the damage but it’s progressed to kill all of the red acan and is now moving onto the green one.

They’ve been in the tank for years grown on the rock so I can’t remove them, is there anything I can do to save the green one? Also I’m presuming the die off is because of sting but maybe it’s something else. All other corals are fine.

Parameters look in line, all other corals are happy.

Sucks but tbh U may have to try to remove it Cut all the dead skeleton and put the frag in an lugols dip. Pls follow the directions in the batch prep ratio The nitrates are low. The alk is at nsw. I like mine 8-5, 9 as a buffer cause I use a lot of it. Any predatory fish?

Yeah this was a frag the size of quarter that has grown onto the surrounding rock. The rock is base rock so I can't pull it out. As thin as the acan skeleton is I think reaching two feet into the tank trying to chisel underwater I'd just destroy it and do possible more harm to the tank more broadly.

I was pretty sure I'd just have to watch it die, but was hoping for a hail mary with this post, perhaps there was some secret knowledge I hadn't stumbled onto yet.

As far as fish the only thing that may be a concern is a coral beauty. However I've had him as long as the acans and never seen him nip. But fish are sneaky so I can't totally rule that out.
