i just posted a few days ago asking what this coral is. I just got his coral 3 days ago and it’s not looking very good. Is it possible its just stressed and will turn around? Here’s the backstory.
I just moved my tank to my new house. At the old house the tank was half tap half rodi, I purchased the tank a few months back and they had 100% tap. I was slowly swapping it over. I moved to the new house and left about 1/2in of water in my 55 gallon to keep anything in the sand alive. At the new house it was filled with brand new salt and rodi water. Salt is Red Sea coral pro salt. I don’t have a way to test for phosphates. But the tanks only been running for a few days, my parameters should not be that high. I tested half of them last night, I’ll test the rest tonight. Last night was as follows.
Temp- 79.5-80.2
Dkh- 11
Salinity- 1.025
Ph- 8.3-8.4
Calcium- 420ppm
Magnesium-1300ppm

And this is growing by it and I’m not sure what it is.

Last time I checked nitrates on this tank was 3 weeks ago, nitrate levels were .5ppm. And the canister filter was also cleaned. It’s a fluval fx6 on a 55 gallon and also have a powerhead in there. I may have messed up a bit, just relized my half my leds were off.
Lights are 1 Floresent full spectrum, 20 3w 10000k-15000k leds at 600ma, 10 3w 440-450nm at 600ma. My 10000-15000k led were the only lights I left off this morning.

Lights may be on the weak end for acros and canister filters can cause nitrate issues. What test kit are you using and what’s the total turnover (GPH) of the tank?

I’m using the api test kits. I should have around 900gallons per hour not including my powerhead.
I’m not a fan of the api kit, it’s hard to read. I think I may have high nitrates, so I just did a partial water change and I’m waiting for more water to warm up to do another one. Since this was sitting in a darker live rock tank at the local store my buddy said I should cut back on the light. Saying the coral probably isn’t use to that much light. Thoughts?
