i'm very excited. my friend bought it for his tank but he hated it. i traded my lights with him and we're both happy as they come.
i didnt assemble the mount and just assumed it was built right

If the opening(take the screw off) is not big enough, you might have to hang it. I'll trade you the hanging kit for your mount kit :-)

Am I seeing this right?
the lid is glass and has a plastic clear strip on the back of the lid, that is supported by a plastic rim around the 60 cube.

My suggestion would be to take the lid off for gas exchange and not have a lid.
  1. If you keep the top you can noch out the clear plastic and turn around the bracket as suggested
  2. noch out the clear plastic and also noch out he plastic rim being every so careful with a razor knife. This is a slow process just lightly rock the knife blade

only reason i have the lid back on is to make sure the light doesn't fall in the tank.
i may have to rig something but i'll know better when i go home for lunch

Very good.

unfortunately without cutting away at the frame there is no way it will fit.
i'm going to make something this weekend to suffice.
Do you know how to work with acrylic? You could always make a bracket that clams on the side of the tank and the clamp the kessil bracket on to that bracket.

Another thought is I wonder if the bracket that I have will work with the prime light?

Because you still have the screw in. You can see in the pic that the screw is stopping it from going further. Remove the screw. Place the fixture. Re-add the screw back.

Also, the screw has a cap on the inside that can twist off.
